It can seem daunting and time-consuming to pick individual stocks, and many stock-picking services tend to focus on a specific strategy such as growth or dividends. This Motley Fool Epic review shows how you can receive five monthly recommendations for multiple investment strategies.

You will receive insights from several Motley Fool services, including their premium ratings and research tools. As a Motley Fool subscriber, I share my feedback on the potential perks and who’s the ideal investor for Epic.

motley fool epic

Summary

The Motley Fool is a well-known source of stock investment information. With Motley Fool Epic, you’ll have access to five stock picks each month. These picks can help investors find potential winners without putting too much time into research.

Pros

  • Five monthly stock picks
  • Easy to implement
  • Track record of success

Cons

  • Annual fee
  • No short-term picks
  • No guaranteed success

What is Motley Fool Epic?

Motley Fool Epic
Screenshot

Motley Fool Epic is the second of five levels of The Motley Fool investment newsletters. I like that it provides five monthly recommendations for aggressive, moderate, and cautious investing styles. The recommendations feature well-known companies and lesser-known ones with high growth potential.

In comparison, most newsletters only provide one monthly pick and have a narrow investment strategy. The Motley Fool recommends this service for portfolios of $50,000 or more. You may also consider upgrading if you already use Motley Fool Stock Advisor but want more insights.

Further, in an industry full of scams, it is reassuring to know that The Motley Fool offers a proven track record with products designed for individual investors ready to invest for three to five years. Instead of dealing with pump-and-dump schemes, you have useful tools for everyday investors.

I also like that this product provides in-depth ratings and AI-powered research tools that reduce your reliance and subscription costs on other top-notch investment websites.

How Does Motley Fool Epic Work?

How Motley Fool Epic Works
Screenshot

You are cutting out the major time commitment that is typically involved with stock research when you sign up for Motley Fool Epic. Instead, the service will handle the bulk of the research for you:

  • Five monthly stock picks
  • In-depth research reports, videos, and podcasts
  • Quant Ratings with five-year projections
  • Customizable investment strategies

The chief monthly perk is receiving five new stock picks. From there, you can choose to invest in those stocks or not. With that many recommendations, you most likely won’t invest in them all every month, but it’s easier to pick those that fit your investing goals.

Before you start looking for overnight returns, keep in mind that this service is designed for long-term investors. The stock analysts highlight stocks with an outsized possibility of beating the stock market if you hold your share for the next three to five years.

However, as a long-time Motley Fool subscriber, I can personally attest that not every monthly pick is a winner. It can also be heard to realize positive gains when the broad market is bearish.

The platform suggests that you hold at least 25 of the stock picks for at least five years to build wealth for the long term. I think this is a good suggestion as you diversify your portfolio, but you need a sizable portfolio to invest regularly and justify the $499 annual fee.

How Much Does Motley Fool Epic Cost?

Working with Motley Fool Epic isn’t free. Luckily, it is more affordable than you might expect.

New and existing members can sign up for $499 per year. This is relatively expensive. Thankfully, you have 30 days to request a full refund if the service isn’t a good fit.

Epic costs more than entry-level stock newsletters, which usually cost $199, such as Motley Fool Stock Advisor. But this is a mid-tier product that provides advanced research and five monthly picks instead of two.

In my opinion, it’s competitively priced for the quantity and diversity of analysis.

Key Features

If you want to build a profitable portfolio of individual stocks with considerable growth potential without sinking hours into it, then Motley Fool Epic should be a top consideration.

At a relatively affordable price point, you’ll unlock the following features.

Five Stock Picks Per Month

The main draw of this service is receiving five stock picks each month, ranging from aggressive growth to dividends.

  • Stock Advisor: Two picks from the entry-level platform appealing to most investors.
  • Rule Breakers: One pick focusing on high-growth potential but more volatility than Stock Advisor.
  • Hidden Gems: One long-term investing idea.
  • Dividend Investor: One high-quality dividend stock per month.

With five new stock picks each month, you can build a robust portfolio within a year as you get 60 new recommendations. You will also receive monthly updates featuring the best open investments from each of the four model portfolios to fill in the gaps.

Easy-to-Implement Guidance

Motley Fool Top 10 Rankings
Screenshot

As the month progresses, you will receive the latest stock picks and updated stock rankings. It can only take a few minutes to implement the guidance in your portfolio as you read the potential rewards and risks. You will also find a link to read the latest research report.

Essentially, you’ll need to decide whether or not you want to move forward with that particular stock purchase. If you do, then it is just a matter of logging into your brokerage account to execute a buy order.

Long-Term Outlook for Individual Stocks

Motley Fool Portfolio Simulator
Screenshot

This service is designed for investors looking to build a portfolio for the long term. The Motley Fool believes that “the best chance to succeed in the stock market is to buy at least 25 stocks and hold them for at least five years.”

You can simulate potential investment returns with a portfolio simulator. The proprietary quant ratings also project the maximum drawdown and profit potential over the next five years.

Stock Screener

Rule Breakers Stock Screener

The members-only stock screener lets you quickly identify potential investments from the open recommendations across the Epic portfolio.

It can be challenging to invest in every monthly pick and the screener can help find stocks fitting your criteria to maintain a diversified portfolio. For example, you can customize them by risk rating or other factors.

Rule Breakers Reviews

Here are some reviews from people who have used the platform:

“Motley Fool’s changed my life in this main respect: I’m financially independent today. I didn’t think that would be possible until maybe my mid or late 60s. I have the ability to make choices and quality-of-life decisions now that I would never be able to make before.” – Mark T

“I use the Fool to do the things that I don’t have time to do. If you have a busy life and want to invest in the market, this is one of the best vehicles to support you in doing that.”  – Bob A

Is Motley Fool Epic Worth It?

Joining Motley Fool Epic can be worth it if you’re an aggressive investor with a long-term investment horizon. Most of the monthly stock picks look for growing companies that most investors don’t know about, and it can take several years of volatility to realize a profit.

Simultaneously, the dividend and Hidden Gems picks can be more cautious to help balance your portfolio allocation. It’s possible to have Epic be your only investment newsletter subscription for a flat $499 annual fee.

Motley Fool Epic Alternatives

If you are looking for help with researching investments at a more affordable price, Epic is not your only option. Here are a few other options worth considering.

Motley Fool Stock Advisor

The Motley Fool Stock Advisor is a premium newsletter service that also offers two new stock picks each month. This service is a bit cheaper as the first year for new members costs $99^, and the second year costs $199.

You can also take advantage of a 30-day membership-fee back guarantee.

^Based on $199/year list price. The introductory promotion of $99 for the first year is for new members only

Seeking Alpha

If you want to stay away from The Motley Fool altogether, consider trying Seeking Alpha. You receive access to investment research and premium ratings for most stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds. You’re not restricted to a model portfolio. Cost range from free to $2,400 and year.

Stock Rover

Stock Rover can be another great choice if you are looking for self-directed research tools helping long-term investors. The service offers useful tools like a stock screener, portfolio tracking and comparison tools.

It costs anywhere from $79.99 to $279.99 annually depending on the subscription you select. Customers can try the service for free for 14 days.

Zacks Premium

Another option if you’d like to avoid The Motley Fool services is Zacks Premium. This investment research service is the cheapest option offered by Zacks at $249 annually after a 30-day free trial. Read research reports for most stocks and funds, plus a long-term model portfolio.

FAQ

If you are still on the fence about using Motley Fool Epic, these frequently asked questions might be able to help you make a decision.

The annual fee of $499 for Motley Fool Epic could be worth it, but it depends on your unique situation. If you are looking to receive regular stock picks to help you grow your portfolio for the long term, it could be a great choice.

However, if you are looking for a quick return on your investment, then you may want to look elsewhere.

Austrian Airlines Business Class Review https://finance.vmondeika.com/austrian-airlines-business-class-review/ https://finance.vmondeika.com/austrian-airlines-business-class-review/#respond Wed, 10 Jun 2026 17:22:24 +0000 https://finance.vmondeika.com/austrian-airlines-business-class-review/

As an aviation geek, I love trying business class on a new airline. I hadn’t tried Austrian Airlines before, and I was excited to check out the airline’s recently introduced business class on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner during my flight from New York-JFK to Vienna.

From the comfortable lie-flat seat to the delicious food, I really enjoyed the entire flight. Here’s what it was like flying Austrian Airlines business class on one of the carrier’s newest aircraft.

An overview of Austrian Airlines

Austrian Airlines is the flag carrier of Austria, part of the Lufthansa Group and a member of Star Alliance. The airline operates a hub at Vienna International Airport and serves more than 120 destinations worldwide.

Its Star Alliance membership expands Austrian Airlines’ reach even further through a network of 26 member airlines. With this membership, travelers with miles in other Star Alliance loyalty programs, such as Air Canada Aeroplan, United MileagePlus and Avianca LifeMiles, can earn and redeem miles on Austrian Airlines flights.

How I booked Austrian Airlines business class

This flight was the transatlantic segment of my itinerary from New York City to Amsterdam, with a layover in Vienna.

I booked the entire trip using 70,000 Air Canada Aeroplan points plus $85 in taxes and fees. Luckily, Chase was running a 20% transfer bonus to Aeroplan at the time, so I only needed to transfer 59,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards® points.
I paid the taxes using my Chase Sapphire Reserve® card, which means that I earned 4 points per dollar, since it was a direct flight booking. Charging the taxes to the card also activated the card’s travel insurance, which I consider to be among the strongest travel insurance packages offered by travel credit cards because it includes travel medical insurance.

Austrian Airlines business class airport experience

The premium experience started before I boarded the plane thanks to priority check-in and lounge access.

Austrian Airlines check-in counter

The airport process was smooth. Austrian has a dedicated first and business class check-in area, so I didn’t need to wait in line to check my bags. I was able to check two large suitcases for free because of the generous baggage allowance. Business class passengers also receive lounge access, so after checking my bags, I headed straight to the lounge.

Lufthansa business class lounge

Austrian Airlines flies out of Terminal 1 at New York-JFK, which has several lounges. I opted for the Lufthansa Business Lounge since it was closest to my departure gate. Despite the lounge also being part of the Priority Pass network and accessible through many different premium travel credit cards, it wasn’t busy during my visit.

Before boarding, I enjoyed a quick dinner while watching the sunset and planes taxi across the tarmac.

Austrian Airlines business class cabin and seat

Ammunition, Missile, Weapon

This flight was on the Boeing 787-9, which features 26 business class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 herringbone configuration, giving every passenger direct aisle access.

Aircraft, Airplane, Transportation

Since I booked my flight relatively last-minute, the only available seats were in row 1 or one of the middle seats. When flying solo, I prefer a window seat, so I selected seat 1K in the first row of the cabin. The one downside was its proximity to the galley. Because flight attendants gathered in that area while preparing and serving meals, it wasn’t the quietest spot for an overnight flight.

The seat was comfortable in both upright and bed mode. Austrian provided a plush pillow and blanket, and despite the increased noise level, I fell asleep shortly after dinner and had no trouble sleeping for most of the flight.

The seat also had various small storage compartments, including the main one that housed the entertainment remote, a universal power outlet and a USB charging port, making it easy to keep devices charged throughout the flight. Seat adjustments were controlled through a touchscreen panel with preset positions for lounging, dining and sleeping.

Austrian Airlines business class food and drinks

Brunch, Food, Cutlery

Meal service began with a bread roll and a buffalo mozzarella salad served with figs and cherry tomatoes, followed by a carrot ginger soup. Despite the large drink selection, I chose water.

Food, Food Presentation, Cutlery

For my main course, I selected the roast beef with crispy onions, potatoes and string beans, which was delicious. I was so full from eating that I skipped dessert and went to sleep.

Brunch, Food, Bread
Breakfast on the Austrian Airlines Boeing 797-9 Dreamliner. (Photo by Elina Geller)

Before landing, breakfast was served. I chose sunny-side-up eggs and enjoyed them with orange juice and tea. The breakfast was really tasty and it was the perfect way to start the day since by the time we landed it was almost 11 a.m.

Austrian Airlines service, Wi-Fi and entertainment

Service throughout the flight was attentive and professional. The flight attendants were friendly, efficient and responsive whenever passengers needed assistance.

During dinner service, we received cards to select our preferred breakfast options and indicate whether we wanted to be woken up. I selected the eggs but noted that I didn’t want to be disturbed if I was sleeping. When I woke up, breakfast service was almost over, but the flight attendants were still able to get me my meal, which was a really nice touch.

The entertainment system featured a large screen with a variety of movies, television shows and other programming. Austrian also provided noise-canceling headphones, which helped create a more comfortable experience. I didn’t take advantage of either since I went right to sleep after dinner.

The aircraft was equipped with Wi-Fi. Complimentary messaging through services such as iMessage and WhatsApp was included, while passengers who wanted full internet access could purchase a paid Wi-Fi package. I didn’t end up purchasing Wi-Fi since messaging was enough for me.

Cushion, Home Decor, Furniture
Business class amenity kit. (Photo by Elina Geller)

Business class passengers also received an amenity kit that included essentials such as a sleep mask, ear plugs, socks, a toothbrush and toothpaste tablets.

Is Austrian Airlines business class worth it?

For travelers looking to cross the Atlantic comfortably, Austrian Airlines business class is a solid option.

The comfortable lie-flat seat made it easy to get meaningful sleep on an overnight flight, the food was excellent and the service was consistently attentive. Lounge access and priority airport services added value to the overall experience.

The biggest drawback of my experience was the location of seat 1K near the galley, which resulted in some extra noise during the flight. However, that was a relatively minor inconvenience compared with the overall comfort of the journey.

If you can book Austrian Airlines business class using points, especially during a transfer bonus like the one I used, it can be an excellent way to travel to Europe in comfort without paying cash for an expensive premium-cabin ticket.

How much is Aegis travel insurance?

Based on the data we pulled across multiple insurers for the same traveler profile, the average basic-level coverage was $80.

Aegis’ travel insurance lowest-tier plan, Choice, was priced at $69, cheaper than approximately two-thirds of the plans we compared.

For the same sample trip, Aegis also offers other plans, ranging from $74 for Priority Plus to $94 for the Cruise Plan.

Which Aegis plan is best for me?

To choose the right plan for your needs, consider where you’re visiting, how you’ll get there, and the activities you’ve planned on your itinerary.

The Cruise plan, for example, can help you access higher coverage limits that might come in handy during a seafaring journey. For example, a $750 per person coverage — versus $250 per person limit under the Priority Plus plan — if you missed your cruise due to a delayed or canceled flight.

Ultimately, deciding which plan makes the most sense for you entirely depends on your personal preferences, risk tolerance, and trip details.

Does Aegis offer 24/7 travel insurance?

Yes, Aegis travel insurance specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week regardless of your time zone. Their multilingual associates can be reached any time of day at the following phone numbers:

  • Customer Service: 866-753-0945, Option 2

  • Emergency Assistance: 877-317-3472 (toll free), or 305-455-0896.

How to file a claim with Aegis travel insurance

Aegis offers its Stress Less Benefits which help you avoid further disruption to your trip in the event of a covered event. Just call its 24/7 Emergency Assistance Team and they can assist by helping you navigate your plan’s coverages and paying medical and emergency providers upfront.

Each plan has its own list of Stress Less Benefits. For example, with Go Ready Choice, Stress Less is available for trip interruption, medical and dental events, and emergency assistance to name a few.

If you need to file a claim for an event that’s outside of your policy’s Stress Less Benefits, you’ll need to go through the typical claims process. Here’s how:

  1. Contact Aegis. Call, email, or speak to a live chat call center representative who can offer clarity about your policy coverage and necessary supporting documents.

  2. Await document prescreen. Aegis will prescreen the documents you submitted to ensure that it has all of the correct information to process your claim.

  3. Upload documents and forms to the online portal. Once the documents clear the pre-screening process, Aegis will email additional claims paperwork and a link to the online claims portal you’ll use for submission.

  4. Wait for claim processing. Processing the claim can take seven to 10 business days from the date you submitted all of your necessary forms and documents.

  5. Receive your reimbursement. If the claim is cleared and is covered under your policy, Aegis will mail you a check.

Is Aegis travel insurance worth it?

The biggest advantage of Aegis travel insurance is that you can build a plan that best fits your preferences. If you have an unpredictable work schedule, for example, the Choice plan has an optional Cancel for Work Reasons upgrade.

Travel insurance rating and review methodology

Travel insurance

BoundlessCash’s ratings for travel insurance companies take into account the following details about each insurer:

The best travel insurers excel in all of these categories. They provide the information people need to make a purchase without any surprises along the way. They offer insurance at a fair price and allow customers to customize plans to meet their coverage preferences. They’re also able to keep their customers happy throughout the relationship.

Data collection and review process

BoundlessCash collects over a dozen data points for each insurer we analyze from their public-facing websites and third-party analyses. These data points are then compared against one another and against BoundlessCash’s standards for good travel insurance companies to determine a star rating.

Data is collected on a regular basis and reviewed by our editorial team for consistency and accuracy. Final star ratings are presented on a scale of one to five stars, where a one-star score represents “poor” and a five-star score represents “excellent.”

The reviews team

The writers and editors behind BoundlessCash’s travel insurance reviews are insurance specialists who have had their work featured by or appear in The Associated Press, The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Chicago-Sun Times, U.S. News & World Report and the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing. Each writer and editor follows BoundlessCash’s strict guidelines for editorial independence.

In addition to travel insurance, the team covers travel rewards programs, airlines and hotels.

Rating specifics

Our star ratings are weighted based on our editorial and professional opinions. We use the following weightings when rating travel insurers:

Scope of coverage ratings are based on assessments of a company’s standard protections, including:

  • Travel medical insurance.

  • Trip cancellation.

  • Trip interruption.

  • Trip delay.

  • Baggage and personal belongings, lost luggage.

  • Emergency medical assistance.

  • Emergency medical evacuation.

  • Emergency medical repatriation.

  • Accidental death and dismemberment insurance.

  • Rental car coverage.

Customizability ratings factor in whether coverage limits are fixed prices or a percentage of the trip cost (the percentage is generally better), whether a policy has customizations available, and the number of bonus features.

  • 24-hour assistance.

  • Pre-existing medical conditions coverage.

  • Extreme sport coverage.

  • CFAR add on availability.

  • Travel health insurance.

  • Interruption for Any Reason.

  • Travel Inconvenience.

  • Cancel for Work Reasons.

  • Electronics coverage.

Consumer experience ratings are based on provider reviews on Squaremouth.com. If the company is not in the Squaremouth database, we default to Google reviews.

Affordability ratings are based on the percentage of total trip cost a plan costs a policyholder. Less than 4% is considered excellent, whereas over 9% is considered poor.

Carshield gets okay scores from BoundlessCash compared to other extended car warranty providers. The company has sample contracts available online and the representatives we spoke to were professional and not pushy.

However, Carshield doesn’t actually let you see your quote online like competitors Endurance and Olive — you’ll have to call. Carshield, like several extended warranty companies we reviewed, is a broker, not a direct claims administrator. That means that Carshield doesn’t review, grant, or deny claims itself, which can leave customers without a clear office to hold accountable. Carshield sells vehicle service contracts backed by American Auto Shield.

Based on our secret shopping, Carshield has one of the lowest-cost exclusionary plans (the most comprehensive coverage) for newer cars, but its used-car coverage is among the most expensive we reviewed. The actual cost of an extended warranty depends on your vehicle’s make, model, age and mileage, plus the level of coverage you choose.

Plan choices

What makes it shine: Compared to other providers, Carshield’s month-to-month plan for a newer car is one of the cheapest per mile (based on an average of 1,200 miles driven monthly). The sample contract (from American Auto Shield) states that any teardown required to diagnose a problem will be covered, which isn’t the case for all extended car warranty companies. Also, for extras like roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement, Carshield’s per-repair caps are more generous than many competitors.

What could be better: Carshield doesn’t offer online quotes, so you must call to get one. Also, some cost factors could negate the savings of a lower monthly premium. For example, the per-repair deductibles quoted to us started at $250 (some companies start at $100). Also, emergency repairs without preauthorization are limited to $500 per breakdown. Carshield also promoted the month-to-month plan when we were shopping, which isn’t a fixed price like a term plan and could increase at any time.

📌 Carshield’s extended car warranty plans

Carshield offers five plans, plus separate plan options for motorcycles, RVs and electric vehicles. All of Carshield’s plans are offered either via term (a set amount of time or mileage) or month-to-month. These are your options, from narrowest to widest coverage:

Aluminum: Specialty coverage for electrical and computer-based parts. Doesn’t cover basic powertrain elements like the engine and transmission. Covers the following components and systems:

  • Engine control module.

  • Starter.

  • Alternator.

  • Navigation or GPS.

  • Electrical system components.

  • Specific parts of the cooling, steering, air conditioning, suspension, brake, electronic, fuel, turbocharger and audio center systems.

Silver: Powertrain coverage. Covers the following components and systems:

  • Major engine components.

  • Major transmission components.

  • Water pump.

  • Specific parts of the turbocharger, transfer unit and drive axle.

Gold Select: Intended for cars with over 100,000 miles. Covers the following components and systems:

  • Major engine components.

  • Major transmission components.

  • Water pump.

  • Starter and alternator.

  • Specific parts of the turbocharger, cooling, transfer unit, drive axle, air conditioning and electrical systems, such as power window motors.

Platinum: Extensive coverage for higher-mileage vehicles. Covers the following components and systems:

  • Major engine components.

  • Major transmission components.

  • Water pump.

  • Most parts within the cooling, transfer unit, drive axle, electrical, steering, air conditioning, suspension, brake, electronic, fuel, turbocharger, audio and emissions systems.

Diamond: Exclusionary coverage. This means the plan covers all parts and systems in your vehicle (with specific exclusions). This plan is intended to most closely replace an original manufacturer warranty.

🔎 Spotted by the Nerds: Carshield offers an EV-specific plan that includes the battery. Some extended warranties don’t include EV batteries, and some, like Endurance, only offer warranties for specific EV brands like Tesla.

💸 How much Carshield will cost you

These were the costs we were quoted for Carshield’s Diamond plan, adjusted to include down payments and likely contract terms:

  • 2025 Toyota SUV with 5k miles: $43.32 monthly or 3.6 cents per mile.

  • 2025 Audi sedan with 7k miles: $51.65 monthly or 4.3 cents per mile.

  • 2017 Honda sedan with 80k miles: $129.99 monthly or 10.8 cents per mile.

The price you’ll pay with Carshield depends on your car’s make, model, age and mileage, plus the plan you choose. You have the option to pay upfront or make monthly payments, though the month-to-month and term plans are detailed in separate contracts.

Carshield will either reimburse you or the repair facility once your claim is approved. Carshield has an app for customers, and you can make payments online.

How Carshield’s pricing compares to competitors

Carshield’s exclusionary plan lands above and below the average prices we found when shopping, depending on the vehicle you’re getting quotes for. These are the average costs we found when shopping for an exclusionary plan across all the extended warranty companies we reviewed:

  • 2025 Toyota SUV with 5k miles: $63 average monthly (about $35 to $115 range), or 5.4 cents per mile.

  • 2025 Audi sedan with 7k miles: $84 average monthly (about $40 to $175 range), or 7.69 cents per mile.

  • 2017 Honda sedan with 80k miles: $102 average monthly (about $60 to $140 range), or 8.49 cents per mile.

Carshield quoted us different deductibles depending on the car we were shopping for.

  • Toyota: $250, or $500 for an engine or transmission replacement.

  • Audi: $500 for any repair.

  • Honda: $1,000 for the first 90 days. $250 after 90 days, or $500 for an engine or transmission replacement.

🤓 Nerdy Tip

Car warranties, including Carshield’s extended warranty plans, pay to repair or replace components and systems that malfunction because of mechanical or electronic failure. They don’t cover normal wear and tear, which means an item stops working because it’s worn out. Wear-and-tear items typically include tires, brake pads and rotors.

💡 Carshield membership perks are generous

Like most other extended warranty companies we reviewed, Carshield offers 24-hour roadside assistance including towing, flat tires, lockout, battery and fuel/fluid delivery. Also, there are a few extra benefits you get with a Carshield extended warranty that some competitors don’t offer. Here are our favorites:

  • Rental car coverage. Carshield pays up to $60 per day for up to 7 days for you to rent a car while your vehicle is under service, or up to 14 days for an engine or transmission replacement if you have a Diamond or Platinum plan. This is the highest-value rental car coverage among the warranty companies we reviewed.

  • Trip interruption coverage. Carshield pays up to $125 per day for up to 4 days, or up to $500 per breakdown. Some competitors, like Endurance and American Dream, pay up to $150 per day, and others pay less or don’t explicitly offer this coverage.

🚨 The catch with Carshield

There are a few aspects of Carshield coverage with limits to watch out for. Here’s what to know:

  • Aggregate limit. Carshield will only cover repairs up to either $15,000 or the average retail value of your car, whichever is higher. On the phone, a Carshield representative told us that they will cover up to the cash value of the vehicle. Some warranties, like Endurance’s, have no set aggregate dollar limits, though some, like Ox’s, have a lower limit ($7,500).

🚙 Used-car coverage is pricey, but may work short-term

Carshield’s month-to-month structure can be appealing for used-car owners not wanting a long-term commitment. Since many used cars already have higher mileage, month-to-month coverage may be a budget-friendly way to get protection, without paying for a multi-year term you won’t use if you hit the mileage limit first.

However, Carshield doesn’t offer online quotes, and the quote we got on the phone for an older vehicle, $139.99 per month, was one of the highest for a stated component plan among the companies we reviewed. Deductibles also start high for used and higher-mileage cars, and with month-to-month unlimited coverage, costs could increase over time.

Who can get a Carshield plan?

Carshield sells plans in all U.S. states except for California, where there are special rules for vehicle services contracts. The company says they can refer interested California customers to a licensed mechanical breakdown coverage provider. Carshield also has different contracts for customers in Florida.

What car owners say about Carshield

This section highlights customer reviews and posts about Carshield. Reddit is an online forum where users share their thoughts in “threads” on various topics. The popular site includes plenty of discussion on financial subjects like extended car warranties, so I sifted through Reddit forums to get a pulse check on how users feel about Carshield. People post anonymously, so we cannot confirm their individual experiences or circumstances. Likewise, I can’t verify the experiences customers post on consumer review websites.

Carshield has mostly negative reviews on Reddit. One person reports a hassle-free engine replacement that more than paid for the monthly warranty cost. This user expressed shock that the extended warranty wasn’t a scam, especially after hearing bad things about Carshield on the internet.

🟢 A standout positive review:

“They take care of my car and the price is unbelievable. Sometimes too good to be true happens.”

— Keith, Better Business Bureau review, May 2026

Negative comments about Carshield reflect general customer complaints about extended warranties. These typically include issues with high-pressure sales tactics, claim denials and unhelpful customer service. One Reddit user warned that some repair shops won’t work with Carshield because the company doesn’t pay them. Several users warn against extended warranties overall and recommend putting that money into a savings account, and many users call Carshield an outright scam.

🔴 A standout negative review:

“I expected clear communication, honest representation of benefits, and fair handling of my claim. Instead, I experienced a denial of coverage that I believe contradicts the promises and assurances provided when the policy was sold to me.”

—  Lawrence, Better Business Bureau review, May 2026

Carshield is Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited with an A+ rating. Its average ratings are fair (around 3.75 out of 5 stars overall) on customer review websites, including the BBB website, Consumer Affairs and Trustpilot. Other companies, like Endurance and Premier Auto Protect, have better average reviews.

🚨 Nerd Alert: When Carshield addresses complaints through the BBB website, they reference claim reviews through the warranty administrator, which is not Carshield. Carshield is a broker and does not review or deny claims, which seems to have caused issues for customers.

What to know before buying an extended car warranty

To help avoid costly misunderstandings in the future, make sure to read the coverage and exclusions information in your contract. You have a right to read your contract before purchasing a plan, and it’s important to understand that extended car warranties:

  • They always have exclusions to coverage, no matter what their sales pitches say. Read your contract carefully before purchasing a plan — especially anything listed as an exclusion or limit of liability. For example, extended warranties tend not to cover damage to a covered part that’s caused by a non-covered part.

  • They’re not a type of insurance. Even though some companies call their service fees deductibles, car warranties do not work the same way as insurance policies. They differ in what they cover and how they pay for repairs or replacements. An extended car warranty is not a substitute for car insurance, and it’s not legally required like car insurance.
  • They can deny your claim for several reasons. Examples include work performed on a covered item without approval, or modification of a system with aftermarket or used parts.
  • They may not pay enough to cover the full cost of repairing a covered item. For example, extended car warranties often authorize hourly labor rates up to the repair facility’s posted labor rate, and reimburse for the hours needed to complete the repair based on a nationally recognized labor guide. Your repair may take longer or cost more than your warranty is willing to pay.

Our Home Services team reviews car warranty companies with our readers in mind. We provide unbiased reviews that consider several factors, including cost, covered items, coverage limits, customer ratings, ability to choose your own repair shop and transparency. When rating car warranties, we researched 9 companies, compared terms and conditions in their service agreements and read customer reviews from three consumer review websites.
